I try to create work from an animal or a human form that I have seen that really moves me. It has to be beautiful to my eye for me to want to recreate it in clay. Much of my work is made with the intention of encouraging people to interact with it, cradling it in their hand or giving a sense of the need to touch it. Colour in everyday life is so important to me and becomes extremely important when I am deciding on the patina and type of finish I would like the sculpture to finally take. I normally choose light and vivid patinas to enhance the mood of the viewer with mottled tones to give a rich deep variety of colour.
